Spring randomness

I don't really have any theme to lecture on today. It's springtime, and girls are looking sexy again, and the sunlight is making them glow. So I'd just like to throw up some photos of good-looking girls. Call me lazy.

I know that before I said heels should only be worn to work or formal events, but I've seen outfits since then in which heels worked, so I should correct myself: heels can be worn casually with straight, skinny or cuffed jeans, but NOT boot-cut or flared or any of that nonsense. But yeah, these girls are pretty spot on.

Red pants win.

Aviotors + bow = good.

I'm a fan of this girl's shirt, not so much the graphic, but the style. And the orange ear-buds are awesome. And she's cute as fuck.

Those pants are pretty loud, but why the hell not. What I really love is the glasses.

That hat.

Awesome dress.

If you see a high school girl wearing this outfit, you just think "high school girl." If you see a girl in her 20s wearing this outfit, you think "goddamn sexy."

The most vibrant black dress I've ever seen. And that bag is great.

Glasses

I'm dedicating today's post to glasses, or rather, how cute girls look 10 times cuter in glasses. Eye makeup is handy, but nothing draws attention to a lady's peepers than a pair of spectacles. So if you got 'em, PLEASE, wear 'em. And even if you don't need glasses, you can always cheat and buy some frames, or some with plastic lenses (s'what I did).

UNRELATED- This kid popped up in a Myspace image search for "glasses," and he pretty much owns pimping:

Stripes

What is it about striped tees that are so sexy? Is it the design itself, the simple horizontal rhythm of contrasting colors, that appeals to us aesthetically? Or perhaps its the way stripes wrap around the body, emphasizing the contours of the female form? Whatever it is, it's hard to go wrong in a striped tee.

Blonde (& Tan)

I was thinking about how blonde and tan is no longer a neutral look (assuming that, long ago, it was). It has been trademarked, defined, and bought by slutty rich bitches. Even the word 'blonde' has had the misfortune of being tied up with a ditzy personality type and lack of intelligence. These days, any girl consciously seeking platinum blonde locks with glowing orange skin is aspiring to look like a slutty rich bitch, whether they wish to admit it or not. It could be subconscious, like a little voice in the back of her head that whispers "be Paris Hilton," or she could be very aware of it, succumbing to the endless media seige of "Girls Next Door" and the like, and deciding that it's better to be slutty and stupid than...well, anything else.

But there's still hope for blonde. The model Agyness Deyn, for example, with her light skin, bony frame and short cut, is working to reclaim blonde for the decent folk.

winter colors

I feel bad for not updating this thing lately, but I think the reason why is because it's winter and the fashion is more subdued during these cold months. But let me speak out on something here; a friend was telling me in December that she couldn't wear certain (awesome) elements in her wardrobe because they were not "winter colors." Are you kidding me? What the hell are winter colors?? Just because the weather makes everything a grey-scale doesn't mean you have to dress in one. If you've gotta bundle up, be colorful. You can find plenty of rad coats, hats and scarves available that say "fuck winter colors."

The North Face

North Face jackets, like bicycle helmets and scuba gear, are practical in specific times and places. North Face is comfortable when camping or hiking. Yet when you wear your boring, generic North Face jacket to the store, or to a restaurant, or a party, you are sending a message to the world: "I don't care about fashion. I have a North Face jacket, and probably some Uggs, and probably some sweatpants, and I have given up on the concept of personal style. I am only out to please my boyfriend, who only wants to see me naked anyway." Is that the message you want to send?

Come now, women have a whole universe of awesome jackets to choose from when it gets cold. How about a button-up military sweater?

Clogs and Uggs

Don't wear them outside your home. Uggs are only okay from your front door to the mailbox, and clogs are only okay if you are a Dutch traditionalist. Crocs are simply not okay. Why? Because they look stupid and lazy, people. You might say "But they're so comfortable!" Look, wearing blocks of cheese on your feet might feel great, but you'd look mentally challenged. There are literally millions of different shoes out there. Find a pair that fit you.
